A Tremendous Sword for Use in Any Fight
Posted on: December 24, 2008 by: adminI added the Book of Numbers to Bear’s Prayers and I was reading that book aloud to myself and I came across that I considered very relevant to dealing with the IRS. In Numbers 13 & 14 there is the recounting of the 12 spies being sent into the land of Canaan to spy it out. Numbers 13:1 starts out:
“And Jahuwah said to Mosheh, 2Send men to explore and scout out, for you, the land of Canaan, which I give to the Yisraelites. From each tribe of their fathers you shall send a man, everyone a leader or head among them.”
So Mosheh obeys and selects one man from each tribe and sends them to scout out the land. Among these twelve are Joshua and Caleb. In verse 17 Mosheh sends them to scout out the land of Canaan, and says to them:
“… see what the land is and whether the people who dwell there are strong or weak, few or many, 19And whether the land they live in is good or bad, and whether the cities they dwell in are camps or strongholds, 20And what the land is, whether it is fat or lean, whether there is timber on it or not. And be of good courage and bring some of the fruit of the land.”
In verses 25-26 it is recounted that they returned from scouting out the land after forty days and they came to Mosheh and Aaron and to all the Yisraelite congregation and brought them word, and showed them the land’s fruit. And in verses 27-29 they tell Mosheh and the rest of Yisra’el:
“We came to the land to which you sent us; surely it flows with milk and honey. This is its fruit. 28But the people who dwell there are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large; moreover, there we saw the sons of Anak, of great stature and courage. 29Amalek dwells in the land of the South (the Negeb); the Hittite, the Jebusite, and the Amorite dwell in the hill country; and the Canaanite dwells by the sea and along by the side of the Jordan River.”
In verse 30 Caleb quiets the people before Mosheh, and says:
“Let us go up at once and possess it; we are well able to conquer it.”
But in verse 31 his fellow scouts say:
“We are not able to go up against the people, of Canaan, for they are stronger than we are.”
In verses 32-33 there is commentary with my emphasis added:
“So they brought the Yisraelites an evil report of the land which they had scouted out, saying, The land through which we went to spy it out is a land that devours its inhabitants. And all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature. 33There we saw the Nephilim, or giants, the sons of Anak, who come from the giants; and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”
In Numbers chapter 14 verses 1-4 it is recounted that all the congregation cried out with a loud voice, and they wept that night. And that they grumbled and deplored their situation and accused Mosheh and Aaron, and said with my emphasis added:
“Would that we had died in Egypt! Or that we had died in this wilderness! 3Why does Jahuwah bring us to this land to fall by the sword? Our wives and little ones will be a prey. Is it not better for us to return to Egypt? 4And they said one to another, Let us choose a captain and return to Egypt.”
In Numbers chapter 14 verses 6-9 it is recounted that Joshua and Caleb, who were among the scouts who had searched the land, rent their clothes, and they said to all the company of Yisraelites:
“The land through which we passed as scouts is an exceedingly good land. If Jahuwah delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land flowing with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against Jahuwah, neither fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their defense and the shadow, of protection, is removed from over them, but Jahuwah is with us. Fear them not.”
In Numbers chapter 14 verses 10-12 Jahuwah appears at the Tent of Meeting before all the Yisraelites and says to Mosheh:
“How long will this people provoke, spurn, and despise Me? and how long will it be before they believe Me, trusting in, relying on, clinging to Me, for all the signs which I have performed among them?”
Apparently, the people that made the negative comments in Numbers 13:32-33 and Numbers 14:1-4 never considered that what they “said” constituted provoking, spurning, or despising Jahuwah. Apparently, it never entered their head that what they said betrayed the fact that they did not trust in, rely upon or cling to Jahuwah because of all the signs that he had performed among them.
In Numbers chapter 14 verses 13-18 Mosheh, among other things, reminds Jahuwah of something most Protestants would remind us; that Jahuwah is, “…long-suffering and slow to anger, and abundant in mercy and loving-kindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression…” Most Protestant religions overlook the last part of verse 18 which says that Jahuwah, “…will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and fourth generation.”
In Numbers chapter 14 verse 19 Mosheh requests of Jahuwah a pardon of the iniquity of the people and in verses 20-24 and 27-38 Jahuwah responds with my emphasis added:
“I have pardoned according to your word. But truly as I live and as all the earth shall be filled with the shining splendor of Jahuwah, because all those men who have seen My shining splendor and My miraculous signs which I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tested and proved Me these ten times and have not heeded My voice, surely they shall not see the land which I swore to give to their fathers; nor shall any who provoked, spurned, and despised Me see it. But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land into which he went, and his descendants shall possess it…How long will this evil congregation murmur against Me? I have heard the complaints the Yisraelites murmur against Me. Tell them, As I live, says Jahuwah, what you have said in My hearing I will do to you: Your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness–of all who were numbered of you, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against Me, Surely none shall come into the land in which I swore to make you dwell, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun. But your little ones whom you said would be a prey, them will I bring in and they shall know the land which you have despised and rejected. But as for you, your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness. And your children shall be wanderers and shepherds in the wilderness for forty years and shall suffer for your whoredoms; your infidelity to your espoused Mighty Creator, until your corpses are consumed in the wilderness. After the number of the days in which you spied out the land of Canaan, even forty days, for each day a year shall you bear and suffer for your iniquities, even for forty years, and you shall know My displeasure, the revoking of My promise and My estrangement. I Jahuwah have spoken; surely this will I do to this entire evil congregation who is gathered together against Me. In this wilderness they shall be consumed by war, disease, plagues, and here they shall die. And the men whom Mosheh sent to search the land, who returned and made all the congregation grumble and complain against him by bringing back a slanderous report of the land, Even those men who brought the evil report of the land died by a plague before Jahuwah. But Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among the men who went to search the land, lived still.”
So, we have twelve spies that went to spy out the land. They all saw the walled cities, the giants, and the huge clusters of grapes. Two of the spies bring back a good report saying, ““Let us go up at once and possess it; we are well able to conquer it.” and, “The land through which we passed as scouts is an exceedingly good land. If Jahuwah delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land flowing with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against Jahuwah, neither fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their defense and the shadow of protection is removed from over them, but Jahuwah is with us. Fear them not.” The remaining ten, who saw the exact same things as these two say, “We are not able to go up against the people, of Canaan, for they are stronger than we are.” and also, “So they brought the Yisraelites an evil report of the land which they had scouted out, saying, The land through which we went to spy it out is a land that devours its inhabitants. And all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature. 33There we saw the Nephilim, or giants, the sons of Anak, who come from the giants; and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” And finally they say, “Would that we had died in Egypt! Or that we had died in this wilderness! 3Why does Jahuwah bring us to this land to fall by the sword? Our wives and little ones will be a prey. Is it not better for us to return to Egypt? 4And they said one to another, Let us choose a captain and return to Egypt.” The difference between these two groups comes out in what Jahuwah says in Numbers 14:28, “Tell them, As I live, says Jahuwah, what you have said in My hearing I will do to you…” Jahshuwah says something similar in Luke 19:22 where he said to the servant, “I will judge and condemn you out of your own mouth, you wicked slave!” In case you didn’t get it from the emphasis I have already added, both groups got what they said!
We know that Jahshuwah is the same, yesterday, today, and forever; Hebrews 13:8. And we also know that Jahuwah does not change; Malachi 3:6. It should also follow then that we will also be judged out of our own mouths and that judgment will be based upon what we say. We also know from the results of the story recounted above that what we say can give us the victory in any battle we are involved in or result in us wandering in something akin to a wilderness until we die there. Joshua and Caleb got what they said from the Scriptures and saw the victory through the eyes of faith that came about through speaking the Word. You can tell this because of what is written in Joshua 1:8, “This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall put forth, speak, sing, study and ponder it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” Ephesians 6:17 tells us that the sword of the Spirit is the word of Jahuwah.
Revelation 1:16 tells us that the Son of Man has a sharp two-edged sword coming out of His mouth. We know from John 12:26 (Amp.) that we are to follow Jahshuwah example in living and if need be dying. So then, based upon the above enunciated principles, if you are involved in any kind of fight, government or otherwise, I highly recommend going to www.legalbears.com/index.php?page=bprayers, and getting a copy of Bear’s Prayers, which is really nothing more than the great promises of Jahuwah set out in the Scriptures, changed into first person, present tense, possessive (based on other Scriptural principles) and speaking them out loud three times a day. This will put something great in your mouth that Jahuwah can judge upon in a positive way and you can get the victory in whatever fight you may be involved in.
