Is There a Connection Between Prosperity & Beholding Idols?

In Psalm 119:37 David pleads with Jahuwah, “Turn away my eyes from beholding idols; and restore me to vigorous life and health in Your ways.” From this portion of Scripture it is apparent that there is a connection between not letting our eyes behold idols and life and health. One of the aspects of the word “life” in this verse is to live prosperously. So, living prosperously hinges in part on whether we turn away our eyes from beholding idols.
In Ezekiel 6:9 the prophet says, “Then those of you who escape shall earnestly remember Me among the nations to which they shall be carried captive, how that I have been broken by their lewdness and have Myself broken their wanton heart which has departed from Me and blinded their eyes which turn after their idols wantonly.” From this portion of Scripture it is apparent that there is a connection between being lead away “captive,” a word that has the modern day meaning of being enslaved or dominated, having our eyes blinded, the result being that we figuratively stumble because we are constantly moving around in the dark, and turning our eyes toward idols. The prophet Ezekiel also points out in Ezekiel 18:5-7 that part of being “lawful and right” includes not lifting up our eyes to idols. And in verses 11-13 of that same chapter points out that in part the “duties of a righteous man” include not defiling his neighbor’s wife, not wronging the poor and needy, and not lifting up his eyes to the idols. These verses point out that doing these things will make you an abomination in the eyes of Jahuwah. Also notice that lifting up your eyes to idols is right up there on the transgression scale with defiling your neighbor’s wife. Verse 13 of this chapter warns, “He [who] has done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.”
Proverbs 10:22 Since I enforce Jahuwah’s precepts I am wealthy and have great possessions; I am abundantly supplied with resources, and Jahuwah adds no heavy, toilsome labor with it.
