Why Should We Highly Esteem Wisdom’s Counsel?
Posted on: March 11, 2009 by: adminFrom Proverbs chapter 1 of Bear’s Prayers:
[In red are the benefits of highly esteeming wisdom's counsel.]
20 Wisdom cries aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the markets; 21 She cries at the head of the noisy intersections in the chief gathering places; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks: 22 How long, O simple ones open to evil, will you love being simple? And the scoffers delight in scoffing and self-confident fools[1] hate knowledge? 23 I repent and give heed to Wisdom’s reproof;[2] Wisdom, pours out her spirit upon me, and makes her words known to me.[3] 24 When wisdom calls I answer[4], when she stretches forth her power, assistance and help[5] and begins to move me, I heed it, 25 I highly esteem her counsel and accept her reproof[6], 26 Calamity is far from me; I do not suffer things that cause me terror and panic-27 Since when wisdom calls I answer[7]; and when she stretches forth her hand I heed it; and I highly esteem her counsel and accept her reproof; panic does not come upon me as a storm and desolation and calamity does not come upon me[8] as a whirlwind;[9] I am free from distress and anguish[10]. 28 When I call upon Wisdom, she answers me;[11] when I long for Wisdom and turn toward Her at the break of day,[12] I find Her. 29 I love knowledge and choose[13] the reverent and worshipful fear of Jahuwah; 30 I accept her counsel, and despise not her reproof. 31 Therefore shall I eat of the fruit of Jahuwah’s Ways[14] and am satisfied with His rewards.[15] 32 For the keeping of His righteous Ways gives me the life[16] that He maintains consisting of the highest and the best; His life.
[1] Scoffing, self-confident fools are not going to have the Spirit poured out upon them.
[2] The Torah is what reproves; there is no repentance w/o giving heed to reproof.
[3] How to have the Spirit poured out upon you.
[4] First, when wisdom calls you answer her.
[5] Yawd-”hand”
[6] Our response to Wisdom has an effect on when or calamity comes; terror and panic as well.
[7] Samuel! Samuel!
[8] If you heed wisdom panic, desolation and calamity are not coming for you.
[9] If we turn this around, people who have panic, desolation & calamity, must not have answered when wisdom called. Here is how to avoid storms & calamity.
[10] If you have distress and anguish it reflects how you have treated Wisdom-not good.
[11] If you want wisdom to answer you, you need to answer her first.
[12] Wisdom may be found by seeking it diligently and early.
[13] It is your choice! What will you choose?
[14] The fruit of Jahuwah’s Ways! This is the fruit that is on the Tree of Life. See Rev 22:2, “…on either side of the river, [was there] the tree of life, which bare twelve [manner of] fruits, [and] yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree [were] for the healing of a multitude of individuals.”
[15] Whether you get Jahuwah’s “life” and “rewards” depends on how you treat wisdom.
[16] The Apostle John talks about this life. The Hebrew word chay.
