It is pretty much agreed that the usual way to have a baby is when you deliver in a hospital.  Or to be more specific it is assumed that medicine is necessary to deliver a baby. In this article we hope to point out some facts that break those assumptions. We are going to describe some different methods that might be better for you.

Of course these observations are going to be coming from the viewpoint of my experience running a San Diego licensed midwife service.  If you are unaware midwives are woman who help assist during the delivery process.  Most of the time with no medicine in a homebirth.

So why do some women choose this method? For a quite a few women who do choose this method and understand it, they have several factors for it.

First off, the use of no medicine actually helps speed up the labor and delivery process.Quite a few women don’t understand that when you use medicine it makes the labor slow down.Women always use it because they are told it helps with the pain, but in reality it makes the pain happen longer.  There are many certified midwives in San Diego who can show you proof of that.

Second, the use of the natural method and sometimes through waterbirth actually helps soothe and relax the bodies during delivery.  This of course helps ease the pain and makes delivery happen much faster.  I have seen it as a homebirth midwife San Diego.

Those are a couple of the reasons that women choose a homebirth as the method to deliver.Even though there is no use of medicine and doctors aren’t usually present, it is still a safe alternative. When the delivery is in the home, it helps foster a more private and personal environment.Rather than when you are in a hospital where there will be a lot of people who poke and prod during the labor part.  So for these reasons many woman prefer a homebirth.  It is safe and dignified and a great natural process.
