Hallelu”Jah”. Just like a Y makes an ee (Ex: very) and a yuh sound (Ex: yours); J makes a gee sound (Ex: just)and a yuh sound (Ex: HalleluJah) . If you search for the history of the letter Y in Google you’ll end up at Wikipedia and learn that Y (pronounced why) is the English representation of the Semitic letter Vav which is the third letter of Jahuwah’s name; YHVH.

The Vav in paleo-Hebrew is pronounced oo-wah; hence the insertion of the U giving His name in English, three syllables: Yah-oo-ah. I first saw the three syllable concept in Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance Hebrew #3068 where the pronunciation aid reads yeh·hō·vä’.

You can read a more complete discussion on the pronunciation of Hebrew letters in the Creator’s name here:

How I believe Jahuwah’s name is pronounced has changed over time and may change again. For right now I have it at Yah-oo-ah. :-)

To see why the Hebrew letter Yod that is the first letter of Jahuwah’s Name may be pronounced EeYah study here:
